My African Hair

My hair and I are not always the best of friends.

We sometimes fight, and we sometimes make up.

She gives me all this work and all this trouble,

Yet I love her for what she is, and what she represents.

My hair is strong, and not always sensitive.

Standing bold and unmoved at the best of times.

Proud that she can defy gravity if she so wished.

Yet I love her for what she is, and what she represents.

My African hair can transform at any time.

Short, long, curly, afro, just name it, and she will become.

She is full of life and possibility. She is also tough just like I feel.

My hair and I seem to have so much in common. Oh how I Love my African hair.
