2023 Let’s Go!

It is always such a wonder when a new year comes around. It is a marvellous thing to be alive. To be breathing, to be thinking, to be feeling, to be sane.

Things may not always be perfect but it is incredible that we have strength in our bones, shelter over our heads, and food to eat.

Looking back at 2022, we see the grace and goodness of God layered heavily upon each day.

Thus, for this new year, let’s live in gratitude. Let our testimony always be

“This is a minute, an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year, and a life that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. “ Amen

Grand Hands

“There comes a time when you realize that your life is no longer in any man’s hands. Not in your parents, or your siblings, or friends, not in yours, but in the hand of God who does as He wills. And then you stop fighting and kicking against the pricks. You gain that smoother Iife of peace, and surrender. Then all you can say is:

“Not my will Lord, but yours be done.”

I Lived!

An Apoetsbrain Original Written 3/04/2020 © All rights reserved.

I lived. I lived. I lived.

I know that eight billion others exist alongside me.

I know that others have come and gone before me.

I know it has all been said before in different ways and phrases.

I know that in the picture of space and time we are smaller than a spec.

Yet this is the beauty of our humanity.

That we can cycle through life enjoying what has always been enjoyed.

Thus, I will not get lost in mundane thoughts.

I will not get stuck in mediocrity.

One and all eight billion will know!

I lived. I lived. I lived!

Just a Little More

“Sometimes, all it takes is a little more strength, a little more courage, a little more interest, a little more determination. Not a lot more, just a tiny bit more than you had before to make it through, and suffer no regrets.”

Existence

“Imagine your existence. Remember the reality of your consciousness. Now Imagine only existing. Existing with no purpose, no warmth, no life.Knowing nothing, heading nowhere even after death. Such hopelessness!I wish to have nothing to do with it.

For indeed man was designed for immortality. By nature we are immortal. Where man therefore spends the rest of eternity after his time on earth is the most crucial question of his existence. Now we must decide. With God or without?”

A Person of My People

Reflections from Summer 2018. A piece by Sandra C. Bamisile ©

Being Nigerian in Nigeria is something nearly profound. There is a comfort that creeps over my skin. It is almost suffocating how magnificent it feels to be your own person among your own people. It is almost bewildering how ecstatic I am to eat the food of my people by my people, with my people. Continue reading A Person of My People

A Thousand MegaPixels

The following is a featured piece written by Bonsu Adjei-Arthur © All rights reserved

Arthur’s Introduction to this piece

I have looked at how my world has changed so much and how creative we have become and the extent of magic we can pull up with our creativity from our devices and everything. However, I also felt the need to talk about the downside of all these great things and how people don’t fit. I played the part of the architect generation and how I am happy to see the delusion, the reality and all the glamour of everything and how it seems to all play into my grand plan. As such, I titled it. A THOUSAND MEGAPIXELS. Enjoy. Continue reading A Thousand MegaPixels

Tighten Your Seatbelts

Poem Written by Sandra Chukwudumebi Obiora 11.37am  21.05.2013 ©

‘Things are about to change! Prepare your heart for things will not stay the same.

You were wrong to indulge so much my dear. Stand up, dust up.

Unwise I might add, because now it is very hard for you to let go.

You should have just schemed the surface. Should not have gone in so deep.’

‘Now you are lost. Not sure why you must lose this comfort, if you will.

Yes you will. Reality is cruel my darling. So tie up your laces. Get ready.’

‘It will be taken away from you like it was never present.

It will become just like a mere figment of your imagination.’

‘Tighten your belts’; said the host.

‘Prepare for the next stage of your ride,

That phase where you lose it all again, to get it all back again;

In new forms, new faces, new shapes, new sizes, new voices, new knowledge’ he added.

For indeed many things will be lost,  and many others gained.

Still you must persevere in this new weather you are soon to enter. Tighten your belt my love.’

‘Latch on to your parachute right now. Keep your head high.

For soon, the latch will be forced open, the wind will be let in, and you sent flying. So be strong!’.

If You Need It, Get It

“If you need it, and you can get it, get it. If you simply want it but do not need it, think more about how useful that thing will be to your overall advancement as a person spiritually, physically, socially, psychologically, intellectually. Also, it is really okay to treat yourself from time to time when you have been successful. The trick however is to first achieve something so tangible for which you cannot help but reward yourself even a little bit.”

I Refuse to Believe It

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality…. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”

~ Martin Luther King, Jr. Continue reading I Refuse to Believe It
