Love is Patient

Love is patient, love is kind…

Love does not envy neither does it boast

Or so the saying goes.

‘I love you’ is said everywhere for everything at every time.

Love is uttered in every other sentence.

I love coffee, i love movies, i love research, i love flip flops. I love tik tok. I love this, i love that… Thus, ‘i love you’ naturally comes next.

Yet, love is patient, love is kind

Love suffers long, and is not puffed up…

Or so the saying goes.

Still, my love. I hope you will forgive me when i boast.

I hope you will forgive me when i forget to be kind to you. My love,

I hope you will forgive me when my patience wanes.

Remember it’s not 7 but 77×7 times we are supposed to forgive…. My love….

Or so the saying goes.

But love does not behave rudely, does not seek it’s own. love is not easily provoked. It does not Rejoice in iniquity but Rejoices in the truth. …

Or so the saying goes.

Yet i know that i sometimes am easily provoked… Provoked for instance by the misuse and overuse of this word called ‘love’.

For this world daily shows me that

Love is impatient, that love is unkind.

That love is selfish, highly puffed up, very easily provoked, short tempered in fact, always ready to break up, rejoicing in wrong doing, and dwelling upon countless lies. This is what the world has shown me.

Yet, as i take your hand in mine today, and as we walk from forever towards eternity, i make these words my mantra to you my love.

“my love will be patient, and kind, it will not parade itself, or behave rudely. It will not be easily provoked and will think no evil. It will not be selfish or puffed up. It will not be envious. My love will think no evil and do you no evil.

For the only One who will ever matter more than you tells me in His Word that …

bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. It tells me that Love never ever fails.
